A little video comparing burning osage wood versus a bit of white ash wood (I think). I love the orange flames, the smell of the smoke, and the crackling sounds... it just is soo relaxing.
Dakota - I've made some with flint and steel before, however I haven't been able to successfully get a fire going with a magnifying glass... Maybe sometime I'll try the hand drill method or something... should be interesting. I don't think it's impossible, but it's not the easiest thing either. More of the rate of success lies in the type of wood you use.
Grant - Yeah, it did start up pretty quick, your welcome!
That's cool! Have you ever made fire with flint and steel or a magnifying glass?
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how fast you got that fire started! Thank you for showing us.

I've tried a magnifying glass and haven't been able to start a fire, just get a lot of smoke....but maybe I need a higher focus magnifying glass.
ReplyDeleteOh, but a regular magnifying glass WILL light a match for you. ;-D
